Brighton & Hove Albion have allowed Aaron Connolly to join recently relegated Venezia on a season-long loan. The English club announced: “Aaron Connolly has joined Serie B Venezia on a season-long loan, subject to international clearance.
“He links up with Venezia who were relegated from Serie A last season.”
Brighton’s Technical director David Weir said, “Aaron is in a position where he wants to play regularly, and this is a great opportunity for him to get games in Italy with Venezia.
“There is no doubting his ability, which he showed when he came into the team, and he has shown at the very top level.
“The challenge for him is to grasp this opportunity to continue his development, show consistency in his levels of performance and fulfil that obvious potential.”
The Venice club confirmed the same, “Venezia FC are pleased to announce the acquisition of Republic of Ireland international attacker Aaron Connolly, 22, from Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion on a one-year loan.”
The club added: “After coming through Brighton’s academy, Connolly first established himself in the first team in the 2019/20 season, and has made a total of 45 Premier League appearances with five goals and three assists over the last three seasons. In 2021/22, Connolly spent the second half of the season on loan to Championship club Middlesbrough, where he made 19 league appearances with two goals.
“At international level, Connolly has earned eight caps with the Republic of Ireland senior national team, after representing his country at the Under-17, Under-19, and Under-21 levels.
“Welcome, Aaron.”
