Portuguese defender Ruben Dias has dropped a big hint that he is expected to leave Benfica amid rumours regarding a move to Manchester City.
The 23-year-old has apparently announced that after netting in a 2-0 Liga NOS win over Moreirense on Saturday, he will leave the club he has spent the last 12 years at.
“I am very happy. It was a very important game for me and to be able to consecrate the game with a goal, it was very special for me,” Dias told reporters after the match according to Goal.
“It is a special moment and I think everyone already knows why.”
Latest reports have indicated that Citizens have been in negotiations with Benfica over a potential £ 50 m deal for Dias.
This is because Pep Guardiola is supposedly seeking to secure another defensive option before the transfer window closes.
In the past few weeks, City has thus been associated with a variety of centre-backs, including Kalidou Koulibaly, Jules Kounde and Jose Gimenez. This is despite already welcoming Nathan Ake to the club from Bournemouth.
