Bayern Munich Sets New Record for Total Number of Goals in Bundesliga

The side from Munich have scored an amazing 86 goals after 29 games after the romp against the Rhine men; a new record in the 57-year history of the Bundesliga.

It was Bayern’s designated goal scorer, Robert Lewandowski, who finished a magnificent move in the 43rd minute to make Bayern reach a record of 86 goals. It came as no surprise to anyone, even though the Pole had to wait for his standards for the goal for quite a long time.

That was his first goal in his sixth appearance against Düsseldorf, which means that the 31-year-old scored against all 18 Bundesliga clubs.

Lewandowski elevated his already impressive performance shortly after the break, by scoring a second goal to make it a total of four goals. For the exceptional striker, a mark which matched his personal record in professional football, it was the 43rd goal in all competitions this season: he also scored 43 goals in the 2016/17 season.

These two goals thus won Bayern the game 4-0.

The attacking ability of the champions has gone up another notch under coach Hansi Flick. The 55-year-old coach has celebrated 61 goals for Bayern in 19 league matches, more than any other Bundesliga coach has supervised in such a short period.

However, this isn’t as important for Flick itself. He’s concentrating on more important things. “Right now I’m not interested in numbers and records. All I care about is finishing a good season. You’ve got to be champions at FC Bayern and we have that goal,” the coach said after the game.
