Bayern Munich May Fine Kimmich for Not Getting His COVID Vaccination

Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich could lose a part of his salary and here is why. Bayern Munich may fine Kimmich for not getting his COVID vaccination, and the German Bundesliga club might deduct his salary.

After the football news that Italian anti-vax players should pay for care during COVID-19 outbreaks, Manchester United also took measures. They vowed to conduct random spot checks before every football match at home, that is, Old Trafford.

And now a development in the fight against coronavirus amidst the football world, in Germany, has emerged.

Bayern Munich May Fine Kimmich for Not Getting His COVID Vaccination

Defending Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich may enforce a fine on their midfielder Joshua Kimmich for not yet getting the vaccine.

The German, who’s been on international duty, is quarantining from two days back. Kimmich, and three other Germany players, are in self-isolation because their teammate Niklas Süle contracted the COVID-19 (football today).

Previous reports revealed that Kimmich is not taking the COVID-19 vaccination, and that too, by choice! Kimmich explains his decision not take the vaccine with the lack of research of the long-term effect.

According to the Bild, Bayern Munich are legally entitled not to pay the player his wages when he’s absent.

On the first of November, the German parliament has passed a law allowing an employer not to pay the wages of an employee who is under obligation to be absent due to staying under quarantine.

For those of us worried about the ethics here, this regulation is only mandatory for those who haven’t undergone vaccination.

Given the 7-day isolation, this regulation, should Bayern follow it, might cost Kimmich a total of around 385 thousand euros. That is tantamount to the German club exacting a fine on the player for refusing to get vaccination.

However, as of yet, it is unknown whether the club will resort to such measures.
