Despite the financial consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, Chelsea is set to obtain £48 m from Atletico Madrid for Alvaro Morata at the beginning of July.
Although the Blues were able to sign an 18-month loan agreement, an agreement was reached on the grounds that Atletico had concluded a permanent move in the summer of 2020.
According to Marca, Chelsea would eventually collect a large fee of £48 m from La Liga. The report suggests that the fulfilment of that responsibility would constitute Atletico’s main part of the market in the next transfer window.
Despite the return of 24 goals from 72 games in all competitions, Morata’s unhappiness in London led to his return to Madrid in January 2019. Indeed, Morata has experienced an unsuccessful spell at Wanda Metropolitano as well, making just 14 hits out of 38 trips to Spain’s top flight.
