AS Roma vs Sampdoria: Lorenzo Pellegrini’s penalty bags all three points for the Romans

AS Roma vs Sampdoria: Sampdoria was defeated 0-1 by AS Roma on Monday night. The difference in a game of razor-thin margins at the Luigi Ferraris was made early on when Lorenzo Pellegrini converted a penalty. As a result, José Mourinho’s squad took home all three points. After missing a month due to a meniscus injury, Rick Karsdorp was permitted to fill in for fifteen minutes.

Roma was given a penalty early on in the game for Alex Ferrari’s handball inside of his own penalty area. The expert, Pellegrini, handled the task and successfully hit the top corner. The bottom team in the Italian league, Sampdoria, was unable to achieve anything in the first half.

Andrea Belotti was given an open opportunity ten minutes after the break. He could have defeated Pellegrini had it not been for Sampdoria’s goalkeeper. Goalkeeper Emil Audero of Samp saw a chance to stop the 0-2, but he took his own chance instead. Sampdoria briefly threatened after more than an hour had passed, but Ignacio Pussetto was unable to complete the cross from the right.

Nicol Zaniolo entered the game halfway through the second period. Soon after his substitution, the creative was given a free shooting opportunity, but once again Audero blocked it. A potential goal would have smelled strongly of offside as well. A few seconds later, Zaniolo defeated two defenders before squandering yet another excellent chance.

Roma’s sub’s negligence did not prove deadly because Karsdorp entered the game in the dying moments after suffering an injury for a month. After this tenth round of play, Roma is now in fourth place in Serie A thanks to the victory for the capital. Sampdoria is remains in last place and has yet to record a victory. Dejan Stankovic, a new trainer, was likewise unable to guarantee it.

Lecce vs Fiorentina

In the other Serie A fixture of the night, Lecce and Fiorentina were deadlocked at one goal each. Assan Ceesay’s goal gave the home team a lead in the Stadio Via del Mare with just seconds remaining. Christian Kouame headed La Viola to a point just after the halftime. Player Antonino Gallo of Lecce drew his second caution during the final period. Fiorentina is three places higher in the rankings and has two more points than Lecce, who is currently in seventeenth position.
