Arsenal is said to have joined their northern London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in pursuing Norwich defender Max Aarons, but are not very hopeful of bagging him.
The Gunners have an eye on him, according to Goal, with manager Mikel Arteta known to be keen to strengthen his defence.
In actuality, though, Arsenal may be unable to accept the £30 m asking price for the player.
If Norwich is relegated to the Championship, the 20-year-old right-back would almost definitely transfer on in the summer, and Spurs is among the teams that have been most strongly connected to his name.
And, because of their better financial position, it is suspected that Spurs is actually in favor of signing Aarons, with Arsenal doubtful to be able to afford it owing coronavirus crisis.
If Spurs are able to invest, that will mean spending most of their transfer budget on Aaron.
But their manager Jose Mourinho is eager to recruit a full-back, with Serge Aurier and Ben Davies both flattering to deceive this season.
