Arsenal defender Harry Clarke has been loaned out to Stoke City on a season long deal

Arsenal defender Harry Clarke has been loaned out to Stoke City on a season long deal. Stoke City announced this on their website: “Harry Clarke has become Stoke City’s second signing of the summer transfer window, the Club are delighted to confirm.

“The 21-year-old right-sided defender has joined the Potters on a season-long loan from Arsenal and follows the earlier addition of Aden Flint to Michael O’Neill’s squad.”

The Gunners confirmed the same, by announcing: “Harry Clarke will be joining Stoke City on loan for the 2022/23 season.”

Clarke upon signing for the Potters said: “It feels unreal coming to a club like this. It’s been a dream to play in the Championship for a while now so it’s good that it’s finally over the line.

“Obviously we had to deal with leaving Hibs, which had to be done the right way, but I’ve been excited about it ever since I heard about it.

“I see Stoke City as a Premier League club like a lot of people do. I want to be part of something special here this year, getting the Club back to where they belong.

“Michael O’Neill came up to watch a couple of games. We had a good meeting. He seems really positive, and he likes me. I want to feel wanted so for a manager to come up and see me he’s definitely shown that.”

Stoke manager, Michael O’Neill said: “Harry is young and hungry to succeed. He’s a fantastic athlete with a great deal of potential. And we’re delighted to have secured his services for the forthcoming season.”
