32-year-old Daley Blind is officially a player of Bayern Munich. The club icon of Ajax signs a contract in the Allianz-Arena until the end of the season. This is what the champion of Germany says on social media.
The transfer was able to come about quickly because Ajax and Blind dissolved their agreement by mutual agreement at the end of 2022. There was a need for a new player on the left side of the defensive center in Munich, as Lucas Hernández was seriously injured at the World Cup and is unlikely to play again this season. The choice therefore fell on the tried and tested Blind, who has a lot of experience in the Premier League and Champions League.
Blind must of course win the Bundesliga in Munich, as Bayern succeeds every year. It also gives him another chance to follow in his father’s footsteps and win the Champions League. Danny succeeded in 1995 with Ajax, 28 years later Daley still has the opportunity with Bayern. For that, the Bavarians had to get past a tough hurdle: the next opponent is called Paris Saint-Germain.
Either way, it’s an opportunity to add even more medals to Blind’s already bulging trophy cabinet. Blind became national champion seven times with Ajax and won the cup twice. In the service of Manchester United, he added the Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup. He also has a bronze World Cup medal from eight years ago.
Daley Blind’s words to Munich
Daley Blind has commented on his move to Bayern Munich. The defender is looking forward to his baptism of fire with the Bundesliga superpower. Blind signed a contract on Thursday until the end of the season and hopes to win prizes.
“I can hardly wait to play here,” Blind says on the website of his new club. “The most important phase of the season is coming up, in which the prizes are distributed. A club like Bayern is capable of winning all trophies.” Blind hopes to be able to contribute to winning prizes in the second half of the season.
“The will to win trophies is palpable at this club and was decisive for my decision. I hope that I can contribute to the team with my experience. I will give everything for Bayern,” concludes the Orange international.
