Pep Guardiola talked of the strong debut Manchester City’s midfielder Cole Palmer made in the 3-0 Carabao Cup victory over Burnley.
“He started out a little shy, but that’s natural,” Guardiola said to the official website of the club. “In the training sessions, he is an outstanding young lad. He has taught us a lot. In this club, he has a promising future.”
“Again, thank you to the academy for those talents. We get players from the work of the academy,” he added.
The coach then compared the 18-year-old to Phil Foden: “He’s a humble fellow. He’s an incredibly done man, like Phil. He was granted his opportunity to score. His appearance against a Premier League side in this competition is going to be positive for his future.”
